Jessica Martin grew up in the Santa Cruz mountains and San Francisco, and found her life-inspiration and joy in art at a young age.  She majored in Anthropology at Vassar College, and spent a year studying in Madagascar and the Sorbonne, Paris, before going on to receive her MA in Curatorial Practice at California College the Arts.  She has lived in Healdsburg for 20 years, and has always been committed to promoting contemporary art and innovation in Sonoma County.

As an artist-curator, Jessica has worked at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and Sonoma County Museums, co-founded the local contemporary artist group, 428collective, and recently co-founded Roving Venue, an itinerant gallery and series of one-day art events that promote contemporary art in Sonoma County.  She has been a jury panelist for Wildlands Residency (Healdsburg) and for the past two cycles of Creative Sonoma’s “Discovered Award."    Jessica's art work has been featured at Headlands Center for the Arts, Southern Exposure, San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, Traywick Contemporary, Pro Arts, The Lab, diRosa Preserve, and New Langton Arts.

Jessica is also the lead artist teacher and arts program director for West Side Elementary, Healdsburg.  She is a tremendous advocate for high-quality, imaginative arts programming for public schools, bringing creativity to the center of the learning experience across all subjects.

Her VOICES mural and installation consider themes of tree time vs. human time, connection, resilience, and community.
